Information from the Manufacturer:

Ferodo Racing has updated and refined the technology of the organic race compounds with the introduction of the all-new CP1 race pads.  This completely new formulation will phase in, replacing the very high performing CP2.11 compound over time.  Cornerstone features found in the new CP1's mirror the predecessor but with a somewhat flatter rising torque curve combined with higher density all of which provides a more stable level of friction throughout the stop.  Additionally, the new CP1 has a much lower wear rate as compared to the CP211, with dyno and track data suggesting an average life advantage of almost double, offering a technical advantage, plus of course an economic one. The new CP1 is low abrasion, performing brilliantly on both stainless steel and iron rotors alike!

From the inside; the research dyno is where all performance development, testing and evaluation must begin, but it rarely tells the whole story.  Case in point:  although the dyno graph indicates the peak friction is higher with the CP2.11 compound, all double-blind track testing (where the test rider does not know which material he is evaluating) universally chose the new CP1 as the superior performer over CP211...and the improved lap times correlated with their findings.
Comments included "a super consistent brake lever", "better overall stopping power", "easily able to hit the same brake markers every lap", etc.

  •  New Organic racing material to supercede CP2.11 over time
  • CP211 well-liked for performance, but suffered somewhat in wear

  •  similar, but with more stable friction performance compared to CP211
  •  Life on average 50% better (in above test, wore 0.29mm compared with 0.51mm for CP211)

• ALL ORGANIC  Race Compounds must be bed-in on clean rotors to perform properly and to their potential.  Not doing so will result in poor performance, glazed pads, over-heating, etc.  Pls see the section on prepping brake rotors.

• Many Ferodo Race Compounds are thicker than OE pads, it is therefore strongly recommended to flush your brake fluid with fresh.  This will not only correctly adjust the fluid level in the reservoir, but start you out with the new pads and optimally fresh brake fluid.  The new Ferodo SuperRace brake fluid is the ideal candidate for the job!

Please Note:  FERODO Race Pads are often thicker than their OE counterparts, and as such, re-installing the clip-on OE backplate shields is not recommended or desirable.  We also recommend flushing your hydraulics with a premium race-spec brake fluid such as the Ferodo Super Formula Race (FSF050) which not only provides optimal fresh fluid, but simultaneously adjusts your master-cyclinder to the correct level as well.  The final cure of this formulation is necessarily performed on the bike, and as such, thermal cycling these pads is a requisite part of the bed-in process.  Lastly, and for best results, we strongly recommend prepping your brake rotors to insure a quick and uncomplicated bed-in, the Rotor Hone detailed elsewhere on our website is designed expressly for this job!
